Banque Privée Espírito Santo Sponsors New Swiss Finance Institute Prize
Lausanne - Geneva, Switzerland, February 27th 2008
In celebration of 30 years of operation in Lausanne, Banque Privée Espírito Santo announces the creation of a
finance prize for researchers affiliated with the Swiss Finance Institute. The winner will be announced in July.
The 2008 Banque Privée Espírito Santo Award acknowledges excellence in research that has application to the financial
services industry. The 20,000 Swiss Franc prize will be given to an outstanding research achievement that is relevant to
economies in which Portuguese is spoken, or that concerns an economic domain in which the Espirito Santo Group is
active.
Independence
External experts will join representatives from the Bank to select the prize winner. As such, the Award Jury will include
representatives from each of the Swiss Finance Institute's centers in the Leman, Zurich and Lugano. The winner of the
2008 Award will be announced in July 2008.
The Swiss Finance Institute is a private foundation created in 2006 by Switzerland's banking and finance community in
cooperation with leading Swiss universities. It supports and advances research, doctoral training and executive
education in banking and finance. The Institute is supported by the Swiss banks, the Swiss Stock Exchange, Swiss
universities and the Swiss Federal Government.
Banque Privée Espírito Santo specifies that the Award may be made to individual researchers, including
Doctoral research students, or a team of researchers. Calls for applications and nominations were first
published by the Swiss Finance Institute in November 2007.
Applications and nominations may be submitted to the Office of Research, Swiss Finance Institute at the
University of Geneva, by May 31 2008. The decision of the jury will be announced towards the end of July 2008.
Banque Privée Espírito Santo has been active in Lausanne since 1977 and employs a staff of 130. The group has
CHF 10 Billion in assets under management.
